Meet Alexandra Herbert, a 2016 Reynolds School alumna – B.A. in Journalism!

Nevada YAC: What are you doing now?

Herbert: I am a Digital Media Manager at The Impetus Agency in Reno, Nevada. I manage multiple clients’ digital marketing needs, including social media, advertising, and brand partnerships. The world of social media is constantly evolving with new conversations and trends, making every day a new adventure!

Nevada YAC: What is your favorite college memory?

Herbert: My favorite college memory is living in the dorms my freshman year. I was excited and relieved to discover that everyone was friendly and as nervous as I was coming into a new environment. Together, we experienced Nevada’s traditions, attended football games, and helped each other route through our new college chapter. Many of us have remained close friends to this day!

Nevada YAC: What do you love about being an alumna?

Herbert: As an alumna, I am grateful for all of the moments, traditions, and people that made my experience at UNR so special. Being a part of Nevada’s Young Alumni has allowed me to continue experiencing these fun traditions and connect with other UNR graduates in different fields and interests.

Nevada YAC: What is your favorite alumni memory so far?

Herbert: Some of my favorite memories have been attending Nevada Young Alumni’s events! One memory, in particular, was the organization’s tailgate before a Nevada football game at Mackay Stadium. The section was filled with old friends, food, and locally brewed beer. That night I was reminded of the amazing community that UNR is built upon and even met some new friends!

Nevada YAC: What do you wish you knew in college that you know now?

Herbert: In college, I wish I knew that this is the perfect time to experience new things and it’s ok to take your time doing so. It’s a great opportunity to travel abroad, experiment with classes outside your major, and join clubs.

Nevada YAC: Do you have any advice for soon-to-be grads?

Herbert: My advice to soon-to-be-grads is that the learning continues every day; we are lifelong learners. You will come across difficult challenges, encounter tough choices and make mistakes. However, you will also grow, succeed and some meet incredible people along the way. Keep your head up and work hard!

Nevada YAC: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Herbert: In my spare time, I love spending time outdoors with my family and friends and exploring everything that Nevada has to offer: Whether it’s taking a hike in the Great Basin, sledding down a mountain of snow in Tahoe, finding unmarked hot springs in the desert, or tubing down the Truckee. I love checking off my bucket list with new adventures.

Nevada YAC: What is your favorite quote?

Herbert: “Life is a journey, not a destination.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
