Meet Michael Ung, a 2020 alumnus with degrees in Criminal Justice with a Law and Justice Emphasis and Psychology.
Nevada YAC: What are you doing now?
Ung: I am currently in my first year of law school, with a concentration in Trial and Appellate Advocacy. I have hopes to practice criminal prosecution, and then family law after.
Nevada YAC: What is your favorite college memory?
Ung: I really loved working with multiple student organizations around campus to create community service events and promote philanthropies. Raising money for philanthropies and helping the Reno community brought me feel as if I was contributing something to the greater good.
Nevada YAC: What is your favorite alumni memory so far?
Ung: Going to my favorite places in the Reno/Tahoe during my last couple of weeks living in Reno for my “Goodbye Reno Tour”
Nevada YAC: What do you love about being an alumnus?
Ung: I really like seeing the university from the perspective of an alumnus and respect and appreciate more of what the university offered me during my undergraduate years.
Nevada YAC: What do you wish you knew in college that you know now?
Ung: Wish I knew not to buy graduation announcements so early because of COVID. Haven’t sent them out still. :/
Nevada YAC: Do you have any advice for soon-to-be grads?
Ung: Don’t get consumed with what needs to be done and what needs to happen, but spend some time on what you want to do yourself. Make your wants a priority before you have to dive into your career or grad school.
Nevada YAC: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Ung: I like to film, edit and produce my own video projects. Creating video content is a fun way to change your perspective on how you visualize everything.
Nevada YAC: What is your favorite quote?
Ung: “Sometimes I’ll start a sentence and I don’t even know where it’s going. I just hope I find it along the way” -Michael Scott
